Even as a child, all I have ever done was being a chatterbox. My mom, being completely helpless to my childish babble, bought me children’s magazines like Magicpot, Tell Me Why, to name a few. Apart from that, I also had this ardent interest to read. It has, I’d say impacted me in more ways than one. While reading, one doesn’t only get intrigued with the writing style of the author, but also the vehicles that convey how good the author is: their characters. There are quite a few characters I’d say that’d always remain in my heart, no matter what and that’d never change. Imagination can be one strong emotion; it just works the way you want: when you want to ebb away from reality, when you know things cannot work the way they are and also when you’re daydreaming(which most of us can’t help but doing). Books have been my constant companion through thick and thin. There, while you’re in fantasy land is when characters from books and beyond(TV shows, movies and imagination) seem home.
“Your Wheezy, sir, your Wheezy — Wheezy who is giving Dobby his sweater!”
The first time I ever came to hear about elves were when I heard stories about Santa Claus and his elves. Some say he has 6 elves and some 9; irrespective of that elves have been a fascinating creature for me. Though Dobby, while I first read Chamber of Secrets, was a very annoying character, he later on proves to be loyal and chivalrous and also leaves me in awe as to how seemingly inferior characters really do have their hearts in the good place. He was also someone very sacrificing when it comes to people he really loves and cherishes. Dobby was a major part of the Harry Potter fandom. He’s one of the people who died for Harry’s fight against Voldemort. The one thing I’d say that struck me about Dobby is the gullible and pure respect and love he has for Harry and for the greater common (elf) good; sacrificing himself to see Harry win.
“Hey,” said Jace. who was sitting on an overturned speaker, looking at his cellphone, “do you want to see a photo of Alec and Magnus in Berlin?”
“Not really,” said Simon.
“Magnus is wearing lederhosen.”
“And yet, still no.”
Vampires, I’d say are one fascinating creatures, irrespective of if they exist or not. I’d say that the world got a very bad perception of what a vampire is; glittery, lightning-like, hovering over Bella and concerned over her. NO GUYS! THAT’S EDWARD AND ONLY EDWARD, NOT ANY OTHER VAMPIRES. My first impression about vampire was of Damian from Vampire Diaries. The first time I read The Mortal Instruments Simon was this dorky guy in love with his friend who herself was unaware. He’s a pitiful image of the unrequited teenage first love. While I read the book for the first time, I could actually laugh till I tear up for Simon’s one liners. I was always in awe with his sense of humor. Also saying, he was a personal favorite of mine, considering that he was very much a strong persona; inspiring a lot of teenagers to stay strong in what they love.
“If you want to receive e-mails about my upcoming shows, please give me money so I can buy a computer.”
There are some shows which you get so much attached to when time passes. Binge watching is a common thing for people who’re jobless like me; for I used to sit for hours together trying to complete a season and anticipate the next season. That is exactly how I came across F.R.I.E.N.D.S. as a potentially mind-boggling show which has given me so much of emotional attachment and love in my lowest times. One character I love is Phoebe. She is quirky and the untypically the not-so-size-zero beauty while Monica and Rachel were the typically size zero beauties. She was a person who embraces and loves her quirky self; self-love no matter what others thought of her. She has treaded along difficult situation and has still had a head-on approach in life which is what we all need in life, isn’t it?
“When You Love Someone, It’s Worth Fight For No Matter What The Odds.”
There are some people who have a lot to give, lot to shower and lot to show. Those people could be the most compassionate of all. Aria Montgomery is a person who is a head-strong character filled with love, compassion, fierce and bold persona combined with fearlessness. Anyone would want to be an Aria; for she is pretty yet not a damsel in distress, small but that doesn’t conclude anything and her mistakes doesn’t become her. Aria is one of the rare characters, I felt, were the reflection of the upcoming generation; independent, kind, feministic and a lot more than just a pretty face. Though, not so many people would agree with how she fell in love with her teacher, those with an open mind would actually realize that all we have to do is do what we believe in and what we love.
“The past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it or learn from it.”
There are few characters which has hit me with philosophical thoughts and good old Rafiki would be one of them. Rafiki is so full of wisdom that it makes my already crippled confidence sink lower; for I wouldn’t even have 1/100th of the wisdom that the character has. What is also ironic is the fact that such a character has been imparted for a children’s animation movie. Rafiki’s views on life is something I’d love to imbibe and cherish for life.
I could go on and on. I could describe about Spencer(from Pretty Little Liars), Augustus (from Fault in Our Stars) and so on. For, people and characters that penetrate our brains never seem to leave us, in our lowest and better days.
